CLINTON, N.Y. -- The Ithaca men's soccer team (6-2-4) won a 2-1 overtime game Tuesday afternoon at Hamilton (3-6-1) when sophomore
Tim Goldman scored on an assist from
Casey Williamson two minutes into extra time. It was Ithaca's sixth overtime game of the season, and the Bombers are 2-0-4 in those contests.
Hamilton scored the lone goal of the first half before Ithaca came back to win.
The Bombers evened the score in the 70th minute when senior back
Ryan Norland scored on a header, his first goal of the season, on an assist from
Adam Tamburello. The goal came on a free kick, that Tamburello swung into the penalty area and Norland headed home from close range.
Norland also led a stout Ithaca defense that allowed just eight shots at goal over the game's 97 minutes.
The game-winning goal came early in the overtime period as Goldman scored his team-leading third goal of the year. Williamson assisted on the goal, and it was his first point of the season. Williamson's pass went by two Hamilton defenders to Goldman at the top of the penalty area. He controlled the pass in the middle of the box and slid a low shot past the keeper into the left side of the net.
Goalkeeper
David Kaminsky saw his first playing time of the season. He started and played the first half and made two saves and allowed one goal.
Kenny Chapman played the second half and overtime and earned the victory with one save. Chapman is 4-0-1 on the year.
Ithaca returns to action Saturday with an Empire 8 road game at 7 p.m. at Utica.
