ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's soccer team tied 0-0 against the Clarkson University Golden Knights on Senior Day at Carp Wood Field on Saturday afternoon.
Jack Carney got the Bombers off to a fast start with the first two shots of the game. Carney's first shot went wide left, and the second shot came off of a corner kick which he headed towards the goal, forcing the Golden Knights goalkeeper, Carter Kladstrup to make the leaping save deflecting it out of play. The ensuing corner kick resulted in another great chance from
Trevor Barrett, but his attempt was blocked.
In the 23rd minute,
Johannes Berghahn made his first save of the game for the Bombers as he corralled the low shot from Paul Rolland. A few minutes later
Jared Krasnove had his first shot of the game as he rocketed a shot just wide right of the net and out of play. Then towards the end of the first half Berghahn made another huge stop on a partial breakaway as he made the diving save to deny Jay Jezioro.
At the start of the second half the Golden Knights and the Bombers spent the first few minutes battling back-and-forth until
CJ Abbott fired a shot to the lower left corner of the goal that was stopped by Kladstrup. Both teams then went about 10 minutes without a shot until Clarkson was able to get another shot on goal that was saved by Berghahn, which was followed up by the Bombers adding a flurry of attempts of their own over the next few minutes from Carney,
Drew Warren, Krasnove,
Emmett Enriquez,
Gustav Bauerle, and
Ryan Levy.
The last 10 minutes of the play in the game saw both teams come very close to breaking the scoreless tie, as Enriquez had a shot blocked then immediately after was followed up by
Nick Dignazio with a rebound chance that was saved. However, the Bombers would have one more amazing chance as
Emile Antoine blasted the ball off of a corner kick off the crossbar and out of play. Clarkson then had a shot of their own go off of the crossbar and out of play in the 89th minute of play to keep the game scoreless.
The Bombers will head on the road for their last game of the 2025 regular season at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Bard College for a Liberty League matchup.
