ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca swimming and diving teams posted dual-meet victories over visiting Rensselaer at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. Ithaca's women's team won 199-95 and the Bomber men won 203-95. Both teams will compete again Saturday at Cortland. |

Women's Swimming & Diving: Ithaca 199, RPI 95
Carly Jones earned individual event wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.65), the 100-yard butterfly (59.94 seconds) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.90) for the Bombers. She also swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay team that placed first with a time of 1:54.03. Jones was joined on that relay by
Kylie Bangs,
Madi Sherry and
Elizabeth Gawrys. Gawrys also won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.65 and the 500 free in 5:27.10. Bangs won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.31.
Diver
Korie Fackler won the 3-meter competition with a score of 242.00.
Other individual event winners for Ithaca were
Shelby Pascoe in the 1,000 free (11:19.58),
Meredith Wells in the 200 breast (2:40.16),
Megan Zart in the 50 free (26.14 seconds) and
Megan Buisman in the 200 back (2:14.20).
Men's Swimming & Diving: Ithaca 203, RPI 95
Taylor Van Cott placed first in three individual events and a relay to lead Ithaca's efforts. Van Cott won the 100-yard butterfly in 53.30 seconds, the 200 fly in 2:01.45 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:05.53. He was also a part of the victorious 200-yard medley relay that won with a time of 1:37.35.
In addition to Van Cott, eight other Bombers placed first in at least one individual event.
Clement Towner won the distance freestyle events with a time of 4:57.43 in the 500 free and a time of 10:07.69 in the 1,000 free. Diver
Matt Morrison won the 1-meter event with a score of 293.35.
Peter Knight won the 50 free in 22.80 seconds,
John Carr won the 100 free in 48.05 seconds, and
Adam Zelehowsky won the 200 free in 1:45.93.
In the backstroke events,
Connor White won the 100-yard distance in 54.33 seconds and
Ben Kennedy won the 200-yard event in 2:00.48.
Jake Lichter won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.06.
Ithaca won both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
