Cortland, N.Y. - The Ithaca softball team (11-5) scored a 7-4 win over Cortland (13-3) and then dropped the second game by a 6-5 score Thursday afternoon in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams at Dragon Field. Ithaca returns to Empire 8 play Saturday and Sunday at Alfred and RIT.

The Bombers scored three runs in the top of the third and added two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings in a game one victory. Ithaca was paced by a 4-for-4 day at the plate by freshman third baseman
Julianne Vincent (Westhill/Stamford, Conn.), who scored two runs. Freshman
Jackie Branco (West Essex/Roseland, N.J.) and sophomore Carianne D'Alessandro
(Bridgewater-Raritan/Bound Brook, N.J.) each homered and drove in two runs.
Ithaca senior
Allison Greaney (John F. Kennedy/Iselin, N.J.) earned the complete-game victory and improved to 4-1 on the year. She allowed just three earned runs and didn't have a single walk or strikeout in the game, yielding eight hits.
