Clermont, Fla. - The eighth-ranked Ithaca softball team split a pair of games Wednesday at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. Ithaca began the day with a 3-2 win over UMass-Boston and were topped 6-5 by Geneseo in the second game of the day.

Ithaca's big inning came in the top of the fourth, when the Bombers scored all three of their runs. Sophmore Molly O'Donnell
(Niskayuna/Niskayuna) delivered the big hit, a two-run double to give Ithaca its first lead of the game at 2-1. An RBI groundout from sophomore
Lindsey Johnson (Manchester/Manchester, Conn.) extended Ithaca's lead later in the inning.
Freshman pitcher
Jillian Olmstead (Caesar Rodney/Magnolia, Del.) picked up the win and pitched the first five innings. She is now 2-0 on the season, and had five strikeouts in the game. Senior
Britt Lillie (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Mendon) earned the save in pitching two scoreless and hitless innings. She struck out two.
Lillie was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
Geneseo 6, #8 Ithaca 5
Ithaca rallied from a 4-0 deficit to take the lead, but the Blue Knights hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning that proved to be the decisive blow.
Ithaca scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the score, highlighted by a three-run double from sophomore
Jennifer Biondi (Morris Knolls/Rockaway, N.J.). Freshman outfielder
Julianne Vincent (Westhill/Stamford, Conn.) added a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to give Ithaca the lead.
