Hoboken, N.J. - The Ithaca women's tennis team (7-1, 6-1 Empire 8) lost 6-3 at Stevens Institute of Technology (10-0, 7-0 Empire 8) Sunday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Courts. The Bomber loss ended the longest winning streak by any Empire 8 team in any league-sponsored sport. Ithaca won 57 straight dual matches in regular-season and playoff action and had not lost against conference opposition since Oct. 10, 2004.

Freshman Carly Siegel (Half Hollow Hills West/Dix Hills) and senior Becky Campbell (Sanford School/Chadds Ford, Pa.) were 8-4 winners at second doubles. Siegel also got a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles and senior Kelsey Harness (Allegan/Allegan, Mich.) was a 6-2, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

The Bombers are hosting the New York State Division III Tennis Championships this weekend at Mendon Racquet Club, and then will compete in the Empire 8 Tournament the following weekend at Stevens.
