ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's tennis team (3-0, 3-0 Empire 8) remained undefeated in dual-match competition with a 9-0 win over Alfred (2-7, 1-5 Empire 8) Tuesday at the Ithaca College Tennis Courts. It was the home-opener for the Bombers, and marked the team's 45th consecutive win over Empire 8 opponents in all competitions, covering the last six years.

Senior Melissa Nunez (Morris Hills/Rockaway, N.J.) moved up in the lineup and won at second singles in three sets. It was her first match in dual competition anywhere higher than fourth singles. She also teamed with her sophomore sister Cristina Nunez (Morris Hills/Rockaway, N.J.) to win 8-0 at first doubles. Cristina Nunez won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles.

Sophomore Alison Young (The Prout School/Newport, R.I.) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at fifth singles and an 8-1 winner at third doubles with teammate sophomore Laurel Salladay (Pinkerton Academy/Hampstead, N.H.).

Ithaca returns to action Thursday, in non-league dual-match play at Cortland, before competing this weekend in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals hosted by William Smith.
