Alfred, N.Y. -- The softball team (26-13) lost 2-0 to third-seeded St. John Fisher in Friday morning's first game of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament. The Bombers will face fourth-seeded Rochester Institute of Technology in an elimination game at 2 p.m.

The Bombers loaded the bases in the first inning but didn't score. After the Cardinals scored both their runs in the second, Ithaca put runners in scoring position in three of the final six innings.

Junior second baseman Kait Dolan (Victor/Farmington) had two of Ithaca's four hits. Senior outfielder Alyssa Guzman (Newburgh Free Academy/Newburgh) and freshman Molly O'Donnell (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) added singles.

Junior Brittany Lillie (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) shone in relief, striking out batters over 5.2 innings while allowing just two hits and no walks.
