Bombers Split Softball Doubleheader At King's

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The softball team (20-10) split a doubleheader at King's Wednesday, winning the opener 3-1 and dropping game two 4-2.

Junior Alison Greaney (John F. Kennedy/Iselin, N.J.) pitched a gem in game one, taking a no-hitter into the fifth and allowing only an unearned run. Junior outfielder Brittany Lillie (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) scored one run -- she came around on an error after reaching on a double -- and singled home senior first baseman Caitlin Ryan (Clarksburg/Allentown, N.J.) for Ithaca's final run. Freshman outfielder Meghan Kissinger drove in the first Bomber run with a sacrifice fly.

In the nightcap, Ithaca rallied twice and brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh. Kissinger led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Kait Dolan (Victor Farmington), but with senior Courtney Noster, who had singled, on base, the Monarchs retired the next two batters for the win.

The Bombers return to action Saturday, hosting Utica in Empire 8 play.
