ITHACA, N.Y. - Visiting Utica (3-7, 1-2 Empire 8) scored six goals in the fourth quarter and picked up a 9-5 win over the Ithaca (3-8, 1-2 Empire 8) men's lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon at Upper Terrace Field.
The Bombers rallied from early deficits to even the score 2-2 and 3-3 but Utica scored four straight goals in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Junior midfielder Jay Lucas (Fox Lane/Bedford Hills) had a goal and two assists for Ithaca and sophomore attackman Tom Mongelli (Kinnelon/Kinnelon, N.J.) scored two goals for the Bombers. Junior midfielder Michael Silipo (Williston Northampton/Deerfield, Mass.) and junior midfielder Ryan Lowe (Fairport/Fairport) had Ithaca's other goals. Freshman attackman James Callahan (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.) recorded his first collegiate assist.
Junior goalkeeper David Gal (Loomis Chaffee/Amherst, Mass.) made 12 saves in the game and sophomore midfielder Nick Munn (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) picked up six ground balls.
The Bombers conclude a four-game homestand Saturday when they host #10 Nazareth at 1 p.m.
