Redlands, Calif.--The baseball team (0-2) lost 16-4 to Rutgers-Newark (2-6) Monday afternoon. The Bombers return to action Tuesday against 10th-ranked Chapman.

Junior David Ahonen (Victor/Farmington) picked up two hits for Ithaca, while also scoring two runs. Classmate Rob Zappia (Greece Athena/Rochester) also collected a pair of hits.

Zappia, junior Matt Streich (East Greenwich/East Greenwich, R.I.), sophomore Mike Rosenbaum (Fayetteville-Manlius/Fayetteville), and freshman Matt Keller (Pelham/Pelham) each drove in a run for the Bombers.

Freshman Ian Gaule (Columbia/East Greenbush) made his debut on the mound and struck out two batters in two scoreless innings of relief.
