#5 Wrestling Team Opens With 25-Point Win At Lycoming

Williamsport, Pa. -- The fifth-ranked wrestling team (1-0) opened its season with a 32-7 win at Lycoming (0-1) Tuesday. The Bombers won eight bouts, earning extra points in five of their victories.

At 149 pounds, fourth-ranked senior Blaine Woszczak (Wall/Manasquan, N.J.) won 7-3 over Division III's 10th-ranked wrestler. Woszczak, who is 40-5 in dual meets in his career, raised his record to 103-32. He's now tied for 12th on Ithaca's all-time victory list.

Junior heavyweight Matt Mahon (Rochester/Brighton) pinned his opponent, recording the 29th fall of his career. Mahon, who's ranked 10th nationally, is now 46-15 in his career, with a 12-1 mark in dual meets.

Junior Seth Ecker (Pottstown/Pottstown, Pa.), ranked sixth nationally at 133 pounds, won by technical fall. His career record is 47-12 (18-1 in dual meets) with 12 technical falls.

Junior Jeremy Stierly (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, Pa.) was a winner by major decision, posting a 10-1 victory. Stierly, ranked third at 149 pounds, is now 58-15 (18-2 in dual meets). The major decision was the 16th of his career.

Senior David Priest (Wyomissing/Douglassville, Pa.) also won by major decision, outscoring his opponent at 174 pounds 10-2. Priest is ranked eighth nationally and has gone 77-26 in his career, posting a 31-5 dual-meet record.

Senior Nick Sanko (Hamburg Area/Lenhartsville, N.J.), who missed most of last season with an injury, won 9-1 at 157 pounds. Sanko is 20-12 in his career.

Sophomore Dave Foley (Fairport/Fairport) won 7-4 at 165 pounds in his Bomber debut. Foley, who wrestled for King's last season, now owns an overall record of 17-13.

Freshman Dominick Giacolone (Cato-Meridian/Cato) shut out his opponent at 125 pounds, winning 2-0 in his collegiate debut.

The Bombers return to action this weekend, hosting the Ithaca Inviitational Saturday and Sunday.
