Men's Swimming & Diving Team Defeats Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team (10-4) earned its sixth win in the last seven dual meet competitions with a 177-123 win over Rochester Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) and freshman Jake Lichter (Weston/Weston, Mass.) were each part of three event wins for the Bombers. Connors won the 50-yard freestyle (22.07 seconds) and 100 free (48.88 seconds) and also led off Ithaca's winning 400-yard freestyle relay team that won in 3:19.27. Lichter won both breaststroke events, the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.94) and 200 breast (2:18.38). He also swam the breaststroke leg of the 200-yard medley relay, which won in a time of 1:41.28.

Sophomore Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:01.78 and swam the opening leg of the winning 200 medley relay team.

Freshman Jake Robbins (Fairport/Fairport) was on both of Ithaca's winning relay teams. The 400 free relay also included junior Steve Croucher (Dallastown Area/York, Pa.) and freshman Chris Cadwell (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville).

Junior Jerry Diamond (Junction City/Junction City, Ore.) was on the winning medley relay and placed first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.64 seconds. He also placed second in the 100 breast in 1:04.34. Senior Matt Carolan (Northampton Area/Walnutport, Pa.) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.13.

Sophomore Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) won both diving events. He scored 253.50 points in 3-meter diving and 239.65 points on the 1-meter board.

Ithaca returns to dual-meet competition Saturday when the Bombers host Alfred at the Hill Center Pool.
