ITHACA, N.Y.--Ithaca dropped a five-set match to Geneseo Tuesday evening, falling 18-25, 25-27, 25-21, 25-22, 15-13. The Bombers (9-7) have split their two meetings with the Blue Knights (11-6) this season. Three players reached double figures in kills for Ithaca, including sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.), who picked up a career-high 17.
Sophomore Karin Edsall (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) and senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) joined Thoene in double figures, with 13 and 10, respectively.
Sophomore Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) added eight kills and had a pair of service aces.
The Bombers recorded 93 digs in the match, one off their season high. Sophomore Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) led all players with 29. Classmate Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lake Oswego, Calif.) recorded 16.
Freshman Katie Rickabaugh (Henderson/West Chester, Pa.), playing in her first career match, picked up 11 digs and four kills.
Ithaca returns to the court Saturday at Hartwick for the first of two Empire 8 Crossovers. They open conference play at 2:30 against Rochester Institute of Technology.
