Volleyball Sweeps Fredonia

Rochester, N.Y.--The Bombers closed the opening day of the RIT Invitational with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-21 win over Fredonia (4-7) Friday night. Ithaca (8-5) has won six of its last seven matches. The team returns to action Saturday at noon against Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher.

Freshman Stephanie Lavallato (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) led the Bombers with 11 kills. Sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) added seven kills and hit .300 in the win. She also registered three blocks.

As a team, Ithaca recorded 10 aces against just two service errors. Sophomore Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) notched three, with senior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles), junior Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lae Oswego, Ore.) and sophomore Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) each contributing two.

Doctor also led the team with 27 assists.
