Women's Tennis Defeats Cortland

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's tennis team (2-0) earned an 8-1 win over Cortland (5-2) Tuesday afternoon at the Ithaca College Tennis Courts. Three Ithaca players were victorious in singles and doubles.

Reigning Empire 8 Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, senior Sarah Hollis (Greens Farms Academy/Fairfield, Conn.), continued her strong play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles and an 8-3 victory at third doubles with senior Devra Reiman (Columbia/Maplewood, N.J.). Reiman was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at third singles. Freshman Cristina Nunez (Morris Hills/Rockaway, N.J.) teamed with junior Agata Kubik (C.K. Norwid Gen. Lyceum/Czestochowa, Poland) to win 8-4 at first doubles. Nunez went on to win 6-2, 6-0 at first singles.

Junior Melanie Cohen (Hatboro-Horsham/Ambler, Pa.), sophomore Kelsey Harness (Allegan/Allegan, Mich.) and sophomore Becky Campbell (Sanford School/Chadds Ford, Pa.) were the other singles winners for Ithaca.

The Bombers return to Empire 8 action with a dual match at home against Hartwick at 4 p.m. Thursday.
