The Bombers recorded a season-best 59 kills in the championship match, 10 more than in any other this season. With the victory, Ithaca (7-4) increased its season-best winning streak to five matches. Junior Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) was named to the all-tournament team, with senior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) named Most Valuable Player.
The second set was the closest of the evening, featuring sixteen ties. The Bombers trailed 15-12 in the game, before taking the lead on a 9-4 run. Widener quickly retook the lead, and had the first attempt at set point at 24-23. A kill from sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) retied the score, with Ithaca taking the lead on a kill from senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio). After each team failed once to score set point, the Bombers took the set and tied the match on a block from sophomores Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) and Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall).
Ithaca rallied to take the third set, rallying from a four-point deficit to tie the score at 20. Widener retook the lead at 23-21, before kills from Thoene and Edsall would again tie the score for the Bombers. Thoene would also tally the set-winning kill that put Ithaca up 2-1 in the match.
