Geneseo, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's soccer team (0-0-1) played to a 0-0 tie at Geneseo (0-0-1) Tuesday afternoon in the season-opening game for both teams. It is the second year in a row that Ithaca has shutout its opponent in the first game of the year.

Parlapiano, who spent the first two years of his college career at NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University, made seven saves in the game on 15 total Geneseo shots.

Junior midfielder Jeff Geyer (Rham/Hebron, Conn.) led Ithaca with three shots in the game. Senior forward Fernando Casanova (Loyola/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and senior midfielder Gerard Lewis (Scotia-Glenville/Scotia) had two shots each for Ithaca. The Bombers forced four saves from the Geneseo goalkeeper in the game on nine total shots. Ithaca outshot Geneseo 2-1 in the second 10-minute overtime period.

Ithaca returns to action this weekend when it plays in the RWU/Turfer Classic at Roger Williams. The Bombers' semifinal game is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Plymouth State. Ithaca will face either Roger Williams or Fitchburg State in the second game of the weekend on Sunday.
