Men's Soccer Drops Conference Contest at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Clarkson University on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Bombers 16-3, including a 9-1 advantage in the first half. Despite Clarkson's dominance, the Bombers held the Golden Knights scoreless until just under 10 minutes remained in the half. At the 35:42 mark, first-year forward Leo Sochanek found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore forward Zach Ruthfield.

The goal was the first of three assists for Ruthfield, whose other two assists came in the final 10 minutes of the game. Despite the offensive pressure from Clarkson, the Bombers remained within striking distance, aided by a strong performance from senior goalkeeper Brayden Milbrandt.
Milbrandt recorded six saves on the afternoon, just one shy of his season-high of seven, set on September 26 against Vassar College.

In the final 10 minutes, the Golden Knights struck twice to put the game out of reach. First-year forward Bodie Smith scored at 83:53, followed by first-year midfielder Declan Sengbush at 88:26. Smith's goal was his 10th of the season, leading Clarkson in scoring.

The Bombers fall to 8-3-7 overall and 1-2-5 in conference play, bringing their all-time record against Clarkson to 31-19-4. Ithaca will look to bounce back and snap its two-game losing streak in the regular-season finale next Saturday, October 31, against Bard College.
