Cortland, N.Y. – The #23 softball team (9-7) lost a doubleheader at #9 Cortland (15-1) Wednesday, 2-0 and 3-2. The games were originally scheduled to be played at Ithaca's Kostrinsky Field but were moved to Cortland because of poor field conditions.
Sophomore #Alyssa Brook# (Monmouth Regional/Tinton Falls, N.J.) carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the opener. Freshman shortstop Annmarie Forenza (Hunterdon Central/Whitehouse Station, N.J.) doubled for one of Ithaca's four hits.
In game two, junior Daniel Fazzolare (Plainedge/North Massapequa) hit her first career home run – a two-run shot in the sixth that put Ithaca up 2-1. Fazzolare and freshman center fielder Julianna Van Meter (Rome Free Academy/Rome).
The Bombers return to action Saturday, playing a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Rensselaer.
