Scranton, Pa. – Senior attackman Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) scored seven goals and added two assists in a 12-6 victory for the No. 7 Ithaca men's lacrosse team (2-0) Saturday at Scranton (1-2). Siefert set career highs in goals and points in the game.
The Bombers converted 5-for-10 man-up opportunities, including the first three extra-man situations in the game, to establish a 6-1 lead. Siefert scored Ithaca's first two goals in the first quarter. The Bombers scored four straight goals in the second quarter, including three more goals from Siefert and one by junior midfielder Nic Heckman (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.).
Ithaca's lead grew to 7-1 early in the third quarter before the host Royals answered with two goals. Another four-goal spurt by the Bombers put the game away. Freshman Devin Weinshank (Long Beach/Long Beach), senior Chris Carman (Monte Vista/Alamos, Calif.), Siefert and Heckman scored. Senior midfielder Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/St. George Island, Fla.) scored in the second quarter for Ithaca.
Bomber sophomore goalie David Gal (Loomis Chaffee [Conn.]/Amherst, Mass.) made 20 saves in the game, a career high. He has a .698 save percentage through the first two games of the year.
Ithaca returns to action Wednesday at home against Oneonta.
