Bombers Rout RIT To Secure Top Seed For Empire 8 Playoffs

Tracy Bradley scored 11 points in her final regular-season home game

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (17-8, 13-3 Empire 8) rolled to its 39th win in 41 tries over Rochester Institute of Technology, winning 80-59 to clinch the top seed for next weekend's Empire 8 Championship Tournament. Ithaca will host the four-team event Friday and Saturday, playing St. John Fisher at 6 p.m. in one semifinal with Utica playing Stevens at 8 p.m. in the other. Saturday's final is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Bombers used a 13-1 run in the first four minutes of the second half to extend its lead from nine to 21 points. Senior forward Tracy Bradley (Lewiston/Brunswick, Maine) scored five of her eleven points in the game during that span on two consecutive layups and a made free-throw attempt.

Senior Megan Rumschik (Williamsville East/East Amherst) led the Bombers in scoring with 13 points. She connected on all three tries from beyond the arc and went 5-for-8 on shooting for the day. Junior center Jeanine Burke (Bridgewater-Raritan/Raritan, N.J.) reached double-figures in scoring for the second time this season. She posted 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added six rebounds.

Freshman guard Riley Dunn (Central Catholic/Bradford, Mass.) and junior guard Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) both missed reaching double-figures in scoring by just one point. Brown and Dunn each finished with nine for the game as they both knocked down three field-goals.

Ithaca held the Tigers to just 5-of-26 shooting from three-point range. The Bombers forced 22 turnovers in the game. Freshman guard Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) and Rumschik each added four steals in the win.
