Clinton, N.Y. – The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team (7-1) defeated all three other teams at the Hamilton quadrangular meet and helped hand head coach Paula Miller the 200th win of her career as head of the Bomber women's swimming & diving program. Ithaca defeated Hamilton 177-63, beat Hartwick 184-59 and Geneseo 128-115.
Ithaca earned a total of seven wins in the 13 events in the meet. Junior Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) led the Bombers by winning both the 50-yard freestyle (24.19 seconds) and the 100 free (52.43 seconds) in season-best times that both met the NCAA B Qualifying Standard. Her time in the 100 free also established a new pool record, breaking the previous best time held by Ithaca graduate Maria Ampula.
Junior Becca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.) established a new season-best time and won the 200-yard breaststoke in 2:26.08. That time also met the NCAA B Qualifying Standard.
Rhoades opened the meet by anchoring Ithaca's winning 400-yard medley relay that also included sophomore Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), Blazak, and sophomore Cali DeSanto (Mexico/Mexico) and timed in at 4:02.73.
Keesler won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:12.22. Freshman Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool) won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:13.96 and sophomore Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) finished second in both the 1,000 free (11:04.86) and the 500 free (5:22.10).
Senior diver Naomi Mark (Dansville/Dansville) finished first in 1-meter diving with a score of 201.60 and second in 3-meter diving with a score of 175.15.
The Bombers return to action Dec. 4-6 at the Don Richards Invitational hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology.
