ITHACA, N.Y.--The volleyball team improved to 2-1 at the New York State Regional Challenge with a 3-0 victory over Potsdam (6-29) Sunday afternoon. The Bombers (22-15) win 25-19, 25-18, 25-13. They will play for third place in the tournament against Nazareth at 4:30 p.m.
Senior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) recorded 22 assists, 16 digs and three service aces in the win. Ithaca's all-time leader in assists with 5,409, she also ranks second with 278 career aces. She needs just five more to become Ithaca's career leader in that category.
Junior Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) added nine digs and moved into Ithaca's all-time top ten list with 1,379. She has 641 gigs in the season, third most in school history. Orlandini also holds the second-best mark, with 701 digs in 2008.
Sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) hit .500 in the win, recording nine kills against a single error in 16 attempts.
