Volleyball Falls to Cortland

ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers dropped a match to Cortland on Tuesday, falling 25-14, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19 to the Red Dragons (12-10). Ithaca (14-11) has split its two meetings with Cortland this season. The team returns to action Friday at the Union Invitational.

The Bombers combined for 16 blocks, twice as many as Cortland. Sophomores Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) and Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.) each had six total blocks. Previte's total was a new career-high, while Edsall has picked up 13 in the two matches against the Red Dragons.

Classmate Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) recorded three blocks, as well as a team-best 15 kills. She hit .520 in the match, making just two errors in 25 attempts.

Senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) added 11 kills.

Three Bombers reached double figures in digs. Senior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) and junior Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) each had 12 digs, with junior Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lake Oswego, Ore.) tallying 12. Doctor also recorded 38 assists.

Ithaca opens play at Union with a 4 p.m. matchup with the host Dutchwomen.
