Volleyball Opens Weekend With Win

Tina Orlandini has 1,315 digs over the last two seasons

ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers (21-14) won their first match at the New York State Regional Challeneg, defeating Lycoming (10-18) 25-20, 25-14, 16-25, 25-11 Saturday afternoon. Ithaca, which continues play in the tournament at 6 p.m. against NYU.

Senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) led all players with 17 kills in the match. She also had four blocks in the win. Sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) added seven kills. Freshman Katie Rickabaugh (Henderson/West Chester, Pa.) had a carer-high kills against the Warriors. She hit .304 with just two errors in 23 attempts.

Junior Tina Orlandni (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) had16 digs in the win, giving her 614 this season. She is the only player in Ithaca history to post two seasons with 600 or more digs. Orlandini had 701 in 2008, the second-highest total in program history.
