Fredonia, N.Y. - The Ithaca volleyball team (13-9) defated Cortland 3-1 in Friday's second match at the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational. Set scores were 25-29, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21.
The Bombers were led by sophomore middle hitter Kate Thoene (Voorhees/Highbridge, N.J.) who had a career-high 19 kills and added five blocks.
Ithaca had 12 team blocks. Sophomore Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) led the team with seven total blocks. Sophomores Thoene and Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon Central/Flemington, N.J.) ranked second with five apiece.
The Bombers also tallied 68 digs as a team. Sophomore Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) had 24 and senior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) added 16. Doctor also had a team-leading 45 assists.
Ithaca finished the opening day of the invitational witha win and a loss. They will face Elmira and tournament hosts Fredonia in Saturday's action.
