Volleyball Edges Oneonta

Schenectady, N.Y.--Ithaca improved the 2-1 at the Union Interleague Challenge, defeating Oneonta (13-13) 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12 Saturday afternoon. The Bombers (16-12) close weekend play Saturday afternoon against Skidmore.

Ithaca was down 8-7 and 9-8 in the fifth set, before three straight kills--two from senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) and one from sophomore Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) put the Bombers up for good. Senior Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) had an ace to put her team up 14-11, and sophomore Elizabeth Previte (Hunterdon/Flemington, N.J.).

Three players reached double figures in kills for Ithaca. Senior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) had 18, sophomore Kate Thoene (Voorhees/High Bridge, N.J.) 17 and sophomore Karin Edsall (Cornwall Central/Cornwall) 12.

Ithaca reached 10 service aces, with Doctor and junior Taylor Horton (Lakeridge/Lake Oswego, Ore.) each had three.

Doctor recorded 28 assists in the win. Junior Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) dug a match-high 28 balls.

The Bombers begin play against Skidmore at 3 p.m.
