Men's Soccer Downed By St. John Fisher

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's soccer team (4-4-3, 1-2-1 Empire 8) scored the game's opening goal but lost 2-1 to St. John Fisher (3-6-1, 1-1-0 Empire 8) Saturday at Carp Wood Field.

The Bombers opened the scoring in the 27th minute on a goal by senior forward Jeff South (Aptos/Aptos, Calif.). South was in perfect position to score from close range after junior forward Fernando Casanova (Loyola/Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) shot from the right side and forced a diving save from the St. John Fisher goalkeeper. He couldn't control the rebound and South converted with a right-foot shot from about eight yards out. It was South's first goal of the year.

St. John Fisher scored twice in the second half within a span of three minutes and went on to the victory. Ithaca held a 14-11 shots advantage in the game. Bomber junior goalkeeper Justin Parlapiano (Stafford/Stafford Springs, Conn.) made five saves.

The Bombers host nationally-ranked Hobart Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Carp Wood Field.
