Women's Basketball Defeats Nazareth 58-35

ITHACA, N.Y.--Led by 19 points from junior Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) Ithaca won its fourth straight game with a 58-35 victory over Nazareth Friday night. The Bombers (8-5, 3-0 Empire 8) have now defeated the Golden Flyers (6-4, 2-2 Empire 8) in 11 straight meetings dating back to 2004.

Brown was the only player to reach double figures in scoring in the game, and made eight of ten shots from the floor. She also tied senior Megan Rumschik (Williamsville East/East Amherst) for the team lead with six rebounds.

The Bombers led for the entire game, but could not pull away from the Golden Flyers in the first half. Nazareth was within a point with just five minutes left in the first period. A three-pointer from Bomber freshman Jessica Farley (PIne Valley Central/South Dayton) capped an 8-0 Ithaca run that put the team up by nine entering the half.

Ithaca continued to control the scoring into the second half, getting a 9-1 run to go up by 17 points with 15 minutes to play in the game. Brown and junior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) each made a pair of free throws in the run. Bixby also picked up three assists and now stands seventh in school history with 221 in her career.  The Bombers did not trail by fewer than 11 points for the remainder of the contest.

The team returns to action Sunday at noon with an Empire 8 matchup with Rochester Institute of Technology.
