Rochester, N.Y.--Junior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Friends/Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a career-high 27 points to lead Ithaca (8-5, 5-0 Empire 8) to a 77-64 win over Rochester Institute of Technology (3-8, 0-5 Empire 8). Three other Bombers reached double-figures in points in the team's highest scoring performance of the season.
Bixby set her new career-best on 9-of-13 shooting, and also made eight of her 10 free throw attempts. The Bombers' point guard also picked up six assists and a steal in the win.
Sophomore Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) scored 11 points and hit three three-point field goals. Junior Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) and freshman Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) each added 10 points.
An 11-4 Tiger run cut what had been a 35-26 Bomber lead at halftime to 39-37 three minutes into the second half. Farley hit a three- pointer to sap RIT's momentum and start a 16-5 Ithaca run that saw Confessore and Brown also hit shots from beyond the arc.
Consecutive Tiger jumpers cut the lead to seven points with five minutes to play, but the Bombers would not let the home team get any closer. Bixby made five free throws in the game's final minutes to seal the win and maintain the Bombers' perfect conference record.
Ithaca continues Empire 8 play Friday at Hartwick.
