Women's Soccer Defeats R.I.T. in Empire 8 Opener

Senior Chelsey Feldman scored a hat-trick for the second straight game.

Rochester, N.Y. – The Bomber women's soccer team (3-1-1, 1-0-0 Empire 8) defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology (3-3-1, 1-1-0 Empire 8) 4-1 in Ithaca's first conference game of the season. The Bombers, ranked eighth in the region, extended their undefeated streak in conference play to 33 games and also snapped RIT's three-game winning streak.

Senior forward Chelsey Feldman (Lynbrook/Hewlett) led the offense with three goals. She scored her first of the game in the third minute. It was the second consecutive game in which Feldman scored less than three minutes into the first half. She scored just 34 seconds into the game against Mount St. Vincent last week. It is also the second game in a row that she scored three goals, and she leads the Bombers with six goals on the year.

Feldman now has 63 career goals, and is the program's all-time leading goal-scorer.

Junior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schenectady/Schalmont) registered her second goal of the year in the 15th minute. It was the game-winning goal.

Junior forward Winnie Adrien (Blairstown Academy/Blair, N.J.) registered four shots on goal and assisted on Feldman's first goal. Adrien has eight points on the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) played all 90 minutes in the win and made three saves.

Ithaca will host Oneonta Wednesday at Carp Wood Field at 4 p.m.
