Women's Soccer Advances to Empire 8 Championship Game

Chelsey Feldman scored twice in the Bomber win.
ITHACA, N.Y. - The #25 Bombers (13-2-2) blanked Stevens (12-5-2) by a score of 4-0 in the semifinal contest of the Empire 8 Conference tournament at Carp Wood Field.

Junior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) scored the game-winning goal in the opening minute and scored again in the game's final minute. On the first minute game-winner, she redirected a cross from junior forward Winnie Adrien (Blairstown Academy/Blair, N.J.) who registered her team-leading fifth assist of the season on the play. Scheffer has a career-best 12 goals this season.

Senior forward Chelsey Feldman (Lynbrook/Hewlett) also scored twice for the Bombers. She outraced the Stevens defenders and poked the ball away from the goalkeeper and into the net for her first goal, and scored from just outside the penalty box after receiving a pass from sophomore Liz Masucci (New Providence/New Providence, N.J.). The assist was Masucci's third of the year.

The Bombers defense allowed 12 shots in the contest, four of them by sophomore forward Katria Masilo (Milburn/Short Hills, N.J.) and sophomore goalie Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) made five saves in her eighth shutout of the season.

Stevens' best opportunity of the game came with 4:00 remaining when senior forward Meghan Tennyson (St. Scholastica Academy/Folsom, La.) took a shot with Sotomayor out of the net. But she was unable to score as her attempt was blocked by Ithaca's senior defender Jennifer Bordoni (Homer/Cortland).

Ithaca's next competition will be on Sunday, as it hosts the winner of Nazareth and Rochester Institute of Technology in the Empire 8 Conference Final at Carp Wood Field at 11 a.m. A win would give the Bombers their sixth Empire 8 Conference Title in seven years.
