Oswego, N.Y. -- The women's basketball team (2-2) beat Bridgewater State 59-44 Friday in the opening round of the Oswego Tip-Off Tournament. The Bombers face the host Lakers at 4 p.m. Saturday in the championship game.

Junior guard Katherine Bixby (Germantown Academy/Philadelphia, Pa.) connected on six field-goals to lead all-scorers with 15 points. Classmate Lindsay Brown (Immaculate/Danbury, Conn.) added 14 points in 29 minutes of play. The Bombers jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first five minutes of the contest as they held the Bears -- a 2008 NCAA playoff team -- to 14 first-half points.
