ITHACA, N.Y.—Ithaca improved to 2-0 on their first day of competition in the Empire 8 Crossover, sweeping Hartwick 25-20, 25-21, 25-22. The Bombers (16-15, 3-3) conclude conference play Sunday with matches against Alfred and Stevens Institute of Technology. The Hawks (10-19, 2-5) finish Saturday night against St. John Fisher.

Junior Jen Heberton (Darien/Darien, Ct.) hit .389 with 20 kills in the win. Fellow junior Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) also reached double figures in scoring with 11 kills.

Sophomore Tina Orlandini (Flintridge Sacred Heart/Altadena, Calif.) recorded 19 digs. Junior setter Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) gave out 40 assists.

The Bombers begin play Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Alfred.
