#21 Bombers Blank Elmira 8-0

Senior Lauren Koppel scored her first goal as a Bomber.
ITHACA, N.Y.The women's soccer team  (8-1-1, 4-0-0 Empire 8) defeated Elmira (2-10-0, 1-4-0 Empire 8) in an Empire 8 contest on Saturday, for their seventh consecutive win. The win extended their Empire 8 Conference record unbeaten streak to 37 games.

Junior forward Winnie Adrien (Blairstown Academy/Blair, N.J.) recorded two second-half goals and senior forward Chelsey Feldman (Lynbrook/Hewlett) scored on a penalty kick in the first half. The two share the team lead with 10 goals each. Adrien leads the team with 24 total points and four assists.

Junior midfielders Emily Mogk (Bozeman/Bozeman Mont.) and Amy Scheffer (Schenectady/Schalmont) combined on Ithaca's second goal as Scheffer finished a cross from Mogk. Scheffer and Adrien have each scored at least one point in their last seven games.

Senior forward Lauren Koppel (Southside/Rockville Center) and sophomore midfielder Liz Masucci (New Providence/New Providence, N.J.) scored their first goals as Bombers in the second half. Freshman Kelly Walsh (Northern Burlington County/Chesterfield, N.J.) assisted on Koppel's goal. It was her first career assist.

Senior midfielders Nikki Rice (Sutton Memorial/Sutton, Mass.) and Chelsea Stouffer (Scottsville/Wheatland-Chili) also scored their first goals of the season. Rice opened the scoring for the Bombers with their first goal as she was able to put away a loose ball in front of Elmira's goal and Stouffer found the back of the net after receiving a pass from junior Sarah Moore (Amherst Regional/Leverett, Mass.). The assist was Moore's first point of the season.

Defensively, Ithaca allowed only two shots and one corner kick. Sophomore goalie Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) played the first half while sophomore Jessica Platt (Monument Mountain/New Marlborough Mass.) and junior Colette Heefner (Calhoun/Merrick) split the second half in the Bombers' sixth straight shutout.

The Bombers next compete on Sunday as they visit Alfred for an Empire 8 contest.
