ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca women's tennis team is the top seed for this weekend's Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship tournament, hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. The Bombers will face the host team in the first semifinal at 10 a.m. Saturday. Nazareth will take on the Rochester Institute of Technology in the other semifinal, which begins at 2 p.m. Sunday's championship match will be at noon.

The Bombers are 9-0 on the season and were a perfect 8-0 in Empire 8 matches. Ithaca clinched the regular season Empire 8 championship for the fourth consecutive season, and own a 27-match Empire 8 winning streak that extends through five seasons. Ithaca won last year's Empire 8 tournament with victories over RIT in the semifinals and Stevens in the championship. That was the inaugural Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship. The winner of the conference tournament automatically qualifies for the NCAA Tournament in the spring.
