#25 Bombers Blank Hartwick 5-0 For Third Straight Shutout

Emily Mogk scored her first goal of the season
ITHACA, N.Y. – The #25 women's soccer team (6-1-1, 2-0-0 Empire 8) defeated Hartwick (3-6-1, 1-2-1 Empire 8) 5-0 in a league contest Wednesday for their Empire 8-record 35th conference game without a loss. Ithaca controlled the whole game and out shot the Hawks 30-3 and earned 11 corner kicks to Hartwick's one.

Junior forward Winnie Adrien (Blairstown Academy/Blair, N.J.) opened Ithaca's scoring with an unassisted goal in the 28th minute and added another goal just 35 seconds into the second half for her sixth and seventh goals. Junior midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schenectady/Schalmont) assisted on the second goal for her second of the season. Both Adrien and Scheffer have recorded points in five straight games.

Senior forward Chelsey Feldman (Lynbrook/Hewlett), Ithaca's leader in goals and points, added two goals. She now has nine on the season and pushed her Bomber records for career goals and points to 50 and 123 respectively.

Junior forward Emily Mogk (Bozeman/Bozeman Mont.) scored her first goal of the season as she put a hard shot through the hands of the Hartwick keeper.

Three Bomber midfielders recorded their first points of the season with assists. Senior Nikki Rice (Sutton Memorial/Sutton, Mass.) assisted on Mogk's goal, Chelsea Stouffer (Wheatland-Chili/Scottsville) assisted on Feldman's first goal, and junior Liz Masucci (New Providence/New Providence, N.J.) sent a corner kick into the box that was headed in by Feldman for her second goal.

Three different goalkeepers saw action in the Bomber shutout. Sophomore Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) played 61:30 in net and sophomore Jessica Platt (Monument Mountain/New Marlboro, Mass.) and junior Collette Heefner (Calhoun/Merrick) split the remaining time.

Ithaca's defense, anchored by sophomore Andrea Janda (Sterling/West Boylston Mass.), last week's Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, did not allow a shot on goal and allowed no shots in the second half. The Bombers have not allowed a goal in their last three and four of their last five.

The Bombers' next contest will be Saturday as they head to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., for a non-league contest against Skidmore.
