Bombers Post 13-2 Baseball Win Over Whittier

Matt Samela went 3-for-3 with one RBI
Whittier, Calif. – The #16 Bombers won their third straight to move to 4-3 on the season, routing Whittier 13-2. Senior outfielder Jeremy Peters (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica), junior pitcher Shane Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) and junior outfielder Matt Samela (Staples/Westport, Conn.) each had three of Ithaca’s season-best 16 hits.

Wolf, who scored two runs, gave up only four hits in earning his first win as a Bomber. He struck out five.
 
Peters singled twice, doubled and stole a base while improving his season average to .567 (17-30). Samela scored three runs and stole a pair of bases.
 
Junior first baseman Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush) and senior outfielder Eric Maya (Rome Free Academy/Rome) each drove in two runs. Ferguson, junior catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort) and junior infielder Todd Czerno (Columbia/Brainard) scored two runs apiece.
 
The Bombers wrap up their eight-game spring trip Sunday, playing a 2 p.m. game at Pomona-Pitzer.
