ITHACA, N.Y. -- The fourth-ranked Bombers extended their winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of Cazenovia. The Bombers won the first game 22-0 in five innings and the second game 6-0.
In the first game, sophomore
Nicole Cade (Beaverton/Portland, Ore.) and freshman
Allie Markovits (Middletown/Middletown) combined to throw a perfect game.
Cade made the start and struck out four in two innings to improve to 10-1 on the season.
Markovits struck out six in three innings of relief, including the first five batters she faced.
The Bombers had 22 hits in their highest run total since scoring 24 runs against Lesley in 2001. They batted around in every inning but the first and scored six runs in both the second and third innings and five in the fifth. Senior

Mel Chinigo (Norwich Free Academy, Norwich, Conn.), sophomore
Erica Cutspec (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) and freshman
Stephanie Wyman (Jefferson Township/Lake Hapatcong, N.J.) each had four RBI’s. Eight of the nine Bomber starters had a hit in the game.
In the second game, the Bombers scored a run in each of the first four innings and plated two runs in the sixth. Senior
Kaitlyn Dulac (Bay View/East Greenwich, R.I) hit an RBI double down the left field line in the first inning. Senior
Amanda Illinger (Norwich Free Academy/Hanover, Conn.) drove in a run with a single to center field in the second. In the third inning junior
Jenn Marro (Bethlehem Central/Delmar) led off with a triple to right-center field and scored on a groundout by junior
Hannah Shalett (Shepaug Valley/Bridgewater, Conn.). In the fourth inning,
Marro drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Sophomore Stacey Pelesz (Hudson/Livingston) hit an RBI double and
Illinger drove in another run on a throwing error by the second baseman.
Sophomore Carly Myers (Claremont Secondary/Vancouver/British Columbia, Canada) improved to 9-1, allowing two hits and striking out a season-high 10 in six innings. Freshman
Jessie Derbyshire (Upper Dublin/Dresher, Pa.) pitched the seventh inning, striking out two.
The Bombers have tied a school record with six-consecutive shutouts, matching the 2000 team.
The Bombers (20-2, 4-0 Empire 8) host Utica (12-2, 2-0 Empire 8) in an Empire 8 doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
