Williamstown, Mass. -- The Bombers rallied from a 21-0 deficit to pull within 21-19 heading into the night's final bout, but Simpson held on for the win in the first of two matches held at Williams College.
Ithaca bounced back with a 26-18 win over Rhode Island College in the night's second competition.
Junior Nick Calandrino (Emerson/Emerson, N.J.) recorded two pins -- giving him six this year and 24 in his career -- including a fall to clinch Ithaca's win over Rhode Island College. Calandrino is ranked seventh nationally at 197 pounds.
Other double winners for the Bombers included senior Jad Duca (South Brunswick/Monmouth Junction, N.J.) at 157 pounds, senior Brian Lockard (Upper Dublin/Dresher, Pa.) at 165 pounds, third-ranked Matthias Keib (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton) at 174 pounds and sixth-ranked Robert Stubbs (MacArthur/Levittown) at 184 pounds. Freshman Mike Toscano (Ithaca/Ithaca) picked up his first career win -- a 5-3 decision -- in the victory over Rhode Island College.
Ithaca joins five other schools to compete in tomorrow's Williams Invitational.
