ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The seventh-ranked Ithaca College wrestling team began its dual-match season with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon at the Oneonta Duals. The Bombers defeated Rhode Island College 30-6, and then recorded its 25th all-time dual-meet shutout with a 50-0 win over Alfred State.

Dominick Giacolone at 141 pounds, Eamonn Gaffney at 149 pounds and Matt Booth at 197 pounds each won both of their dual-matches in the Bombers' victorious afternoon.

In the win over Rhode Island College, Anthony Cabrera, Alex Gomez and Zach Conner all won by major decision for Ithaca. Carlos Toribio, reigning Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Rookie of the Week, maintained his perfect record on the season with a pin at 174. Giacolone, Gaffney, Kristopher Schimek and Booth all won by decision as Ithaca claimed victory in eight of the 10 bouts.

Ithaca's shutout win over Alfred State was the 25th shutout victory in program history, and Ithaca has recorded at least one shutout dual win in five of the last seven seasons. In that victory, five Bombers won by pin -- Jimmy Kaishian, Nick Wahba, Eamonn Gaffney, Steven Sabella and Matt Booth. iacolone won by tech fall and four other Bombers won by decision.

The Bombers return to action next weekend at the New York State Championships at Cornell.
