Biography

2013-14: Sweeney served as a team captain and started all 25 games for the Bombers in his senior season. He averaged 19.0 minutes per contest and ranked second on the team with 8.9 points per game. He also averaged 3.4 rebounds per game, ranking third on the roster. Sweeney ranked second on the Bombers with a .500 shooting percentage, as he connected on 83-of-166 attempts. He reached double figures on 10 occasions and scored a season-high 18 points against Oswego on Nov. 19, 2014. 2012-13: Sweeney appeared in 30 games and made 18 starts for the Bombers in 2012-13, making him one of only four players to see action in every game of the season. Sweeney averaged 18.6 minutes per contest, ranking fifth on the team with 558 total minutes played. He made 122-of-243 field goals attempted giving him a .503 field goal percentage, the third-best mark on the team. Sweeney averaged 10.2 points per game, making him one of just four players on the roster to average double digits scoring. He finished the year with 87 rebounds, 10 assists, 13 steals and a team-best 22 blocked shots. Sweeney scored double digit points on 15 occasions during the season, including a season-best 22 points in Ithaca’s 70-68 victory over Rochester on March 3, 2013.  | 2012-13 game-by-game statistics 

2011-12: Sweeney played in 27 of the Bombers’ 28 games as a sophomore, starting the final six of the season. He scored 208 points and had seven double-digit performances in scoring 7.7 points per contest. Sweeney put up a season-best 32 points on Feb. 18 at Utica. He added 55 rebounds, averaging 2.0 per game, 19 blocks, seven assists and four steals in 14.4 minutes of action per game. | 2011-12 game-by-game statistics

2010-11: Sweeney played in nine games for the Bombers as a rookie. He scored 18 points, grabbed four boards and swatted away a pair of blocks in 28 minutes on the hardwood. | 2010-11 game-by-game statistics

Career Statistics

High School: A 2010 graduate of Wissahickon High School, Sweeney was a four-year member of the basketball team at center under the direction of head coach Kyle Wilson. A three-year letterwinner, he earned all-Suburban One conference honors for three years and served as a captain during his junior and senior seasons. Sweeney also played goalkeeper for the soccer team for a year.

Personal: A sport management major, he is the son of Tom and Jennifer Sweeney.
