Ithaca College Athletics

2005: Blumenauer received honorable mention to the Empire 8 all-star team. He played in all but one game, starting eight times at free safety after being moved from linebacker. He was named Ithaca’s Honorary Defensive Captain following the Cortaca Jug game after collecting eight tackles. His two tackles for loss included his first career sack. Blumenauer made his first career start at Hartwick and was named the team’s Hustler of the Week following that win. He collected a career-best nine tackles and recovered a fumble to help beat #17 St. John Fisher. He scored on his first career interception, returning it 85 yards for a touchdown against Brockport. He recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass in the Utica win. He made six tackles in kick coverage and was named Ithaca’s Outstanding Specialist following the win at Springfield.

 

2003-04: Blumenauer attended Connecticut, playing for the Division I-A Huskies.

 

High School: A 2003 graduate of Brentwood High School, Blumenauer was coached by Bob Kolar. He was a two-time all-county choice, was named team MVP twice and was named the 2002 PAL All Star Game Offensive MVP. He also lettered three times in wrestling; his coach was Bob Panariello, a 1986 Ithaca graduate and member of the Ithaca Athletic Hall of Fame.

Personal: A physical education major, he is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Blumenauer.
