2009:
Zappia played in three games as Ithaca’s back-up quarterback. He made his varsity debut in the season-opening win at St. Lawrence and also lined up under center against Union and St. John Fisher. Zappia threw for 18 yards, completing a pair of passes in four attempts, at St. Lawrence.

2009 game-by-game statistics

2008: Zappia was Ithaca’s third-string quarterback as a sophomore.

2007: Zappia spent the season with Ithaca’s junior varsity team and also dressed as the varsity’s third quarterback.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Greece Athena High School, Zappia was coached by Rob Cerone. A two-time pick to the all-greater Rochester team, he was named team MVP as a senior and served as team captain for two seasons. Zappia also lettered in basketball and baseball.

Personal: A sport management major, he is the son of Scott and Nancy Zappia. His brother Mark was a quarterback at Hartwick. Zappia is also an all-conference outfielder with Ithaca’s NCAA playoff baseball team.
