Biography

2006: Nowak started every game at linebacker and earned second-team all-conference honors. He ranked third on the team in tackles (61), second in tackles for loss (14) and led Ithaca’s linebackers with three pass break-ups. Nowak was named Ithaca’s Outstanding Lineman after the Norwich win; he made six tackles (including two for loss) and broke up a pair of passes in that game. He made a season-high 11 tackles (two for loss) in the win over #14 Springfield. He matched a career-high with three tackles for loss in the Hartwick win. He was named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List following the fall and spring semesters.
 
2005: Nowak played in every game, making a pair of starts at middle linebacker. In his first career start he collected a career-best 12 tackles against Norwich, collecting eight solo tackles, three for loss and a pair of sacks and also broke up a pass. He was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week and was selected Ithaca’s Honorary Defensive Captain. Nowak also started at Springfield and matched his career-high with 12 tackles. He totaled 10 tackles in the Brockport win, including two for loss. A standout on Ithaca’s special teams, Nowak led the team with 16 tackles in kick coverage. He was named Ithaca’s Outstanding Specialist after the Hartwick and Brockport wins. He earned Empire 8 Presidents’ List recognition following the spring semester.
 
2004: Nowak spent his freshman season playing on Ithaca’s junior varsity team. He was named Ithaca’s Defensive Scout Team Player of the Week following the win at Norwich.

High School: A 2004 graduate of Ballston Spa High School, Nowak was coached by John Bowen and David Leveroni. He was a first-team all-conference linebacker as a junior and senior and a second-team pick at fullback as a senior.

Personal: An applied economics major, he is the son of Kevin and Margie Nowak. He has scored 30 points as an attack for the Bomber men’s lacrosse team.
