2015: Murphy saw action in all 10 games for the Bombers this season…Served as team captain…Was named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 12…Earned a spot on the national D3Football.com Team of the Week on Oct. 13…Murphy's finest game came during the win over Hartwick as he posted 4.5 sacks with six tackles for a loss, earning a spot on the national D3Football.com Team of the Week. Murphy's career-high sack total was the second-most in a game by a Division III student-athlete this year, and the most in a game by an Ithaca student-athlete since the 2002 season. He was also named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week. ... Recorded 10 tackles, one sack for a loss of six yards, and one blocked kick on Oct. 24 against Morrisville State…Registered a fumble recovery for a touchdown on Sept. 19 against Hobart…Finished the season with 58 tackles, 26 of which were solo, with 15.5 tackles for a loss of 60 yards. Led Ithaca with 10 sacks for a loss of 46 yards, added four pass breakups, one blocked kick, and one fumble recovery, on a one-yard touchdown during a 24-6 home win over Hobart (Sept. 19).
2014: Murphy made seven starts and appeared in eight games on the defensive line for Ithaca as a junior. He had 29 total tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss with two sacks. He also had a fumble recovery. He had two tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery in the win over Salisbury.
2013: Murphy played in all 12 games as a sophomore and made 13 total tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss with one sack. |
2013 Statistics High School: A 2012 graduate of Arlington High School, Murphy was coached by Dominick Demmeteo. He earned all-league accolades and all-section recognition.
Personal: A finance major, he is the son of Dan and Sally Murphy.
