Biography

2009 game-by-game statistics

2008: Scharles played in every game, starting 10 times at defensive tackle. He was named the team’s Honorary Defensive Captain after the Homecoming win over Frostburg State. Scharles recorded a career-high six tackles against the Bobcats. He made five stops in the win at King’s.

2008 game-by-game statistics

2007: Scharles played in every game as Ithaca’s back-up nose guard. He picked up a pair of tackles in the win over Brockport. He was named Ithaca’s Hustler of the Week following that game. Scharles recorded his first career sack against #6 St. John Fisher. He was named to the District I All-Academic Team and was just the Bomber sophomore to ever earn all-district academic honors.

2007 game-by-game statistics

2006: Scharles was one of eight Bomber freshmen to earn a varsity letter after serving as a reserve on Ithaca’s defensive line. He was named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List following the spring semester. 

Career statistics

High School: A 2006 graduate of Canandaigua Academy, Scharles was coached by David Neiman. He was a first-team league all-star and a team captain.

Personal: A clinical science/physical therapy major, he is the son of Les and Laurie Scharles.
