2007: Scanlon started every game at linebacker and earned second-team Empire 8 all-star honors. He led the team with 22 tackles for loss and picked up a pair of sacks. Scanlon was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week after collecting a career-best 11 tackles in the win at Springfield; he also intercepted a pass to set up a Bomber touchdown. He picked up 10 tackles in the King’s win and notched three tackles for loss in the King’s, Brockport and Utica wins.
2006: Scanlon played in seven games and started the first four at outside linebacker. He made seven tackles in the season-opening win over Huntingdon, collecting a career-best two tackles for loss (including his first career sack). Scanlon collected a career-high nine tackles in the Hartwick victory and forced a Hawk fumble. He made six tackles, including one for loss, at St. John Fisher.
2005: Scanlon played in eight games, appearing on special teams and as Ithaca’s back-up at the weak-side linebacker position. His 12 tackles in kick coverage rank third on the team. He collected a career-best five tackles in the shutout at Utica and posted a season-high two tackles for loss at Lycoming. Scanlon’s first career interception came in the win over Norwich. He made three stops against Union in the NCAA playoffs.
High School: A 2004 graduate of Amity High School, Scanlon was coached by Rick McGowan. He was all-league, all-area and all-state as a senior. Scanlon also played a season at Choate Rosemary Hall, where he was coached by Doug James.
Personal: A business administration major, he is the son of John Scanlon and Elaine Skoromski.
