Biography

2011: Named to the Ithaca Invitational All-Tournament Team, Hayes saw action in 35 of the Bombers’ 36 matches as a senior. She recorded 312 kills, 309 digs, 49 aces, 19 assists, 29 block assists and three block solos. Hayes had season-best performances of 27 digs, 22 kills, nine aces and a trio of block assists. She surpassed the 1,000-career kill threshold in her second-to-last match as a Bomber, ending her career with 1,029. She was named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List for Fall 2011.

2010: Hayes recorded 2.67 kills per set on a team-best 337 kills over the course of 37 matches played her junior year. She recorded a season-best 19 kills in the Bombers’ five-set victory over New Paltz, while tallying 229 digs, 52 blocks, 15 assists and 14 aces on the season. She was named Empire 8 Player of the Week on Nov. 8 after earning MVP honors at the Empire 8 Tournament for leading the Bombers to victory.

2009: Playing in 31 matches during her sophomore campaign, Hayes tallied 175 kills including four double-digit performances that each helped the Bombers to victory. Twice she hit the 10-dig mark en route to recording 130 throughout the season. Hayes posted 38 assists, 19 aces and 26 blocks. Her four solo blocks ranked her third on the team. She also dished out four aces in Ithaca’s season-opening blanking of Keuka, 3-0.

2008: Hayes recorded 203 kills as a freshman, second-most among returning players. She eclipsed 10 kills nine times, including a career-high 18 against Nazareth in the New York State Regional Challenge. Hayes registered three double-doubles in 2008, all in the RIT Invitational against Rochester (12 kills, 23 digs), St. John Fisher (10 kills, 20 digs) and Clarkson (12 kills, 13 digs). She was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Week following her efforts in that tournament. Hayes’ 23 digs against Hamilton were a career-high. She totaled 163 digs on the season.

High School: Hayes is a 2008 graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School, where she earned four letters in volleyball and was coached by Beth Powell. As a senior she was named first-team all-state, all-county, and all-conference, in addition to serving as her team’s captain. In 2006, Hayes was a member of the New Jersey State Champion volleyball team. She also earned four varsity letters as a javelin thrower on the track & field team.

Personal: An integrated marketing communications major, she is the daughter of Robert and Barbara Hayes.
